Soccer is a game of Football
Dear Everyone and Everything,
Well it has been a tough couple of days, or should I say rough. The semester is in full swing ACHTUNG! Students Crossing! (peak times during and after a Halle 8 party)
So, also now that the World Cup is nearly upon us and in the spirit of going to the Fußball on a Saturday afternoon and watching Frankfurt lose, I thought that I would clarify up some confusion.
Anytime I say football or hear this word in the northen hemisphere (Except USA), I am assuming one means to play soccer. Not any of the four or five codes of playing a game with a ball and your feet.
I think the term was coined up one day (a long time ago), because of the use of one's feet in the game "foot+ball=football" sort of scenerio. The shape of the ball has nothing to do with the word football either. For example, the use of an oblong ball in Australian Football (AFL or Aussie Rules ot Aerial Ping Pong) is definatly a game of "foot+ball=football" but also incorperates fully grown men jumping up and on top of each other, punching a football (red and oblong shaped) in tight, tight short shorts. Very entertaining!
I hope this arguement is now over! Now, anyone for a game of cricket? (btw. this is a whole 'nother ball game!!)
Peace out and love our work
Bec
PS Dare I say "Richpoint"? hehehe

Bollywood also intended to have the fame of Hollywood, but it never did. Though, have to admit there are many fans of Bollywood too, people like remaking authentic staff to smth new. Sometimes they succeed, sometimes...
Are we playing football today, Bec?

football means NO HANDS. Therefore rugby and all the other crazy games that you aussies lump under the term 'football' are in actual fact not football at all. It would seem you mistakenly followed the yanks on that one. This does not however take anything away from the quality of the games - AFL was lots of fun yesterday if a little hard to get the hang of and as for rugby, well, we'll show these non-rugby playing nations just how fun it is some time v soon :-)
